Nice job again Brian. I ran in Boston both this year (age 63) and last (age 62). I track my performance to weather closely. Last year was my best Boston out of the four that I ran. In 2023, I came in at 3:57: 47 and this year my time was 4:34:44 even though I got an earlier start time this year at 9:50 am compared to 10:54 am last year. Last year the temperature was steady at 48 degrees throughout the race campared to the temperatures that you cite for this year's race (72 degrees by the time I finished.) I can guarantee you that the weather was a huge factor for folks like myself who train in cooler weather (Seattle for me). There is one thing I would like to point out about the number of UK finishers in 2022, 2023, and 2024, specifically the dip in 2023. Note that because of pandemic repercussions and reschedules of the London Marathon, the wider 2022 Boston Marathon qualification window included two London Marathons (2019 and 2021) and the rescheduling of London to the fall in 2021 and 2022 also placed two Londons in the 2024 Boston qualification window (2022 and 2023). Only one London (2021) was in the 2023 Boston Marathon qualification window. I wonder if this helps to account for the dip in UK finishers in the 2023 Boston Marathon. If so, we should expect the number for the 2025 Boston Marathon to include a number of UK finishers closer to that of the 2023 Boston Marathon. Thoughts?
