Hi Max. Thanks for the comment. And thanks so much for purchasing my book! They make an interesting point but I have my doubts. I do agree that not all BQ's are created equal. However, Boston is a bucket list run for many people and not everyone who runs it wants to run it again even if they BQ again. In fact, I would argue (and I am researching this right now) that a much higher percentage of BQ's from downhill races with historically high BQ% turn into applicants because runners seek out these races for the express purpose of using the result to get into Boston. The Tunnel Marathons of North Bend, WA near where I live are excellent examples. These are fast courses that people travel to from all over the country in order to snag a BQ for getting into Boston.
