Hi Brian. Towards the end of this post you allude to your interest in assessing the likely Boston Marathon cutoff time. I share this interest if only for the data/intellectual challenge of it. I have posted my approach towards predicting it already but I have thought of another way that requires better web-scraping skills than I possess. The question is "Where do Boston applicants get their BQ credentials for applying?" A database of the accepted qualifying times for all 22,019 entrants to the 2024 Boston Marathon including the qualifier races wherein they were earned would shed some light on how to appropriately weight the the BQ's earned during the 2025 qualifying period. In theory all this information is available via race results from the 2024 Boston Marathon and the qualifier races though it would be a bit of a chore to gather the data without serious automation routines. What do you think?
