First of all, congratulations on your impressive run in the Tunnel Light Marathon! That is an outstanding result. Yes, I do live in Washington and I've done the Tunnel four times but I don't live in the sub-3 hour world. Great job!
Hard to say about BoA as the new sponsor. In my view they did a great job with the 2024 Boston Marathon despite all the rancor about logo and medal changes. 2024 did see a huge increase in charity dollars raised. That seems to be a big priority for BoA. But does that mean that they will push for even more charity entries in 2025? I can't say. And I have no idea how many BoA employees get entries although I suspect it isn't that much different than that of the previous sponsor, John Hancock.
Regardless of all that, I do think that BoA and BAA probably feel some pressure about the cutoff time. My guess is that they have done their own analysis and have concluded that there is no need to drop the qual standards perhaps because they can always release some pressure by increasing the number of qualifiers accepted compared to last year. My guess - based on no data whatsoever - is that there will be a combination of higher cutoff time and more acceptances compared to 2024.
